H. F. du Pont had a penchant for the Federal and early Classical Revival styles when furnishing his home, favoring pieces with clean, geometric designs. A notable example is a New England-made tilt-top stand from around 1800, featuring a scalloped top with elegant “swept” sides and distinct blocked ends. The contrast of smooth curves with projecting corners adds a sense of drama to the piece. Hickory Chair’s modern interpretation, clad in luxurious white kabebe shell, retains the charm of the original antique while introducing a contemporary, sophisticated twist. Only available as shown.
