Visitors are invited to pause and take in the commanding view from the enclosed porch just off the 7th-floor Billiard Room at Winterthur Museum. The seating area occupies a portion of what was once H. F. du Pont’s private porch, accessed by passing through his study, known as the Lancaster Room. Today, the panorama stretches across the East Terrace, the Louise du Pont Crowninshield Library and Research Building, the Garden, and the sweeping farmland that was once home to du Pont’s dairy herd.
Inspired by the porch’s architectural sunburst detail, Hickory Chair artisans translated this striking motif into the design of the Brandywine Credenza. Crafted of walnut veneers and solids, the piece features a cast resin element the spans the four doors, that artfully captures the sunburst motif.
Designed with both beauty and function in mind, the cabinet offers generous storage. The left and right doors each conceal a top drawer with a discreet cut-out pull and an adjustable shelf below. Behind the two center drawers, adjustable shelving on each side provides additional, versatile storage.
